Fitness in the District

Select Tuesdays, 6:30–7:45pm

Jump into our FREE 8-part fitness series! Feel the burn with fresh formats that blend the latest workout trends with traditional techniques, including EDM BODY FITNESS™, Zumba, Barre HIIT, Rise the Barre, COMMIT, Flow Sunset Yoga & Meditation, Pound & more! Certified instructors will teach a 60-minute workout to bumpin’ DJ beats, while fitness motivators work the group & assist attendees with moves & modifications as needed. Stick around after class to ask questions & receive individualized instruction.

Plus! We’re arming you with opportunities to win self-care prizes at the end of the season. How? Based on the number of classes you attend,* you will be eligible to win:

Gold Prize (attend 7 out of the 8 classes): One-night stay at the Renaissance Hotel Glendale + spa package, $200 gift card to State 48 Brewery & Bowling + a Lululemon workout set.
Silver Prize (attend 6 out of the 8 classes): $100 gift card to LumberjAxes Axe Throwing, $100 gift card to Kabuki Japanese Restaurant + a Lululemon workout set.
Bronze Prize (attend 4 out of the 8 classes): $50 gift card to Wow Wow Lemonade + a Lululemon workout set.
*Entries will be valid for the 2022 Winter/Spring series of Fitness in the District at Westgate Entertainment District. Must be at least 18 years old to enter. Must be physically present at Westgate to be entered to win. Entrants will be accumulated through the QR code waiver onsite at the registration table each week. Winner will be selected via email on or after March 29, 2022.
Pro-tip: dress up to different themed workouts each week.

Theme: Galentine’s Night. Bring your swole-mate to get your heart pumping + show up in shades of pink, red & purple.
Tuesday, February 15, 6:30-7:45pm
Theme: Kid’s Fit Fest. Bring your littles, get your hearts racing & sport RED to represent Heart Health Awareness Month.
Tuesday, March 1, 6:30-7:45pm
Theme: Mardi Gras Mind & Body Burn. Yoga? We’re down, dog. Earn your beads by bringing a mat. Don’t forget to don greens, golds & purples.

Theme: International Women’s Day. Fight for your right to hustle for the muscle! Clothing: free dress.

Theme: Studio 54 Season Finale. Sweat to sparkle like a disco ball! Gear up in glitter, gold & sequins galore.
*Bring your own yoga mat (optional but recommended). Refreshments will be provided.

ABOUT THE CLASSES

EDM BODY FITNESS™, Zumba, Barre HIIT, Rise the Barre, COMMIT, Flow Sunset Yoga & Meditation & Pound include plyometric drills, intervals of strength, power & resistance, kickboxing, yoga, dance & abdominal & core training moves.

There is no equipment or weights needed; you’ll learn proper form & technique — including how to modify where needed for your fitness level.


ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Hilda Young is a fitness coach & founder of the dance party workout,v EDM BODY FITNESS™, a dance-to-tone program that ignites your inner DJ & brings out the party starter in you to the dance floor! From an early age, movement & music have influenced her life that now has become a positive tool of impact to help create various fitness experiences for communities. In 2018, she launched Family Fit Fest™, an active health festival that brings families, fitness & education together to GET MOVING! In 2021, she acquired Fitness in the District, an outdoor, biannual fitness series & West Valley staple hosted at Westgate Entertainment District. When not on the dance floor, you can find her partying it up in the cycle studio, as she is a Schwinn certified instructor. A passion project of hers is getting kiddos moving & creating fun exercise moments as a Fitness Educator for PBS KIDS in San Antonio, TX. Hilda continuously uses fitness, music & movement as a tool for self-care in her personal life too. She has powered through obesity at the brink of diabetes having lost over 100+ pounds, overcame postpartum depression after her 2nd pregnancy & has learned to embrace her story to help others reclaim their self-worth & joy through the lenses of confidence, empowerment, body positivity & grace.
